What does the phrase ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,'; mean?

it means that if you think something or someone is beautiful, than they are its your opinion, not everyone is going to think the same things are beautiful, so really beauty is classified through everyone's different perceptionsWhat does the phrase ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,'; mean?
my history teacher says ';history is in the eye of the beholder';

He says it means history is how the person sees it, not how it really is. I think what YOUR QUOTE means is that beauty depends on how the person looks at it, different people might have different ways of looking at things...so something might be beautiful to some people, but ugly when the people are very critical and detailed!What does the phrase ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,'; mean?
It means that something that may be beautiful to you, may not be beautiful to someone else. You may think a top is beautiful(although, I think that ';cute'; would be a better reaction) but a guy like me will not understand where you're coming from. A guy make think a girl is hot because she has a nice chest and another guy make think she's ugly but a girl with nice legs is better. It's all in opinion.
It means that each person has different views of what is beautiful and what is not. It also means that nobody can tell you what is beautiful.

You are the beholder, and what whatever you think is beautiful is.
different people see beauty differently. some people like fat girls, other like skinny girls like blondes.
That everyone has their own opinion about what is beautiful and what one person sees as horrendous another might see as beautiful.
Some see a catapillar... others see the butterfly

Its not so easy to see real beauty and of course its very subjective to each person
Our opinions about things are very subjective. What I behold (see) as beautiful, you may think is ugly.
If you believe you're beautiful you are; if you don't, you aren't.
One person's trash, is another person's treasure.
who ever has potential for beauty, chooses on where to show it or something like that
you might not feel beautiful to yourself, but you are to the one who admires you
There's no accounting for taste.
