Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

I agree there are different cultural standards for beauty but at the same time there is a plenty of similiarities in the standard of human physical beauty. Is this a just a saying that people use to make everyone feel good? How come some people are more appealing than others? More guys would choose Megan fox over Paris Hilton. More guys would choose Kim Kardashian over Hilary Duff probablly. More girls would choose Will Smith over Jack Black.Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

I completely believe so. Just because more people would choose one person over the other doesn't mean anything. Jack Black has dated women before he was famous. That person found him attractive, unlike you do. When you see someone physically unappealing wearing a wedding ring, chances are that someone finds this person attractive. Beauty goes beyond the ordinary and average views of people and has to do with personal preferences, pheromones and the ever changing laws of attraction. Remember that someone can find you appealing and the next person who sees you doesn't.
Have you noticed that you can ask one girl who she's attracted to, and she'd say guy A while if you were to ask another girl, she'd think guy A was hideous?





Have you ever looked at someone in a marriage and thought, ';Man, she was stupid for marrying him. He's ugly.';? She was obviously attracted to him.





We all have different preferences, different traits / behaviors / etc that make us attracted to someone or something else. Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Otherwise we would all consider the same things ugly, we would all have the same opinion on what is or isn't beautiful - and things would be utterly boring.





Science has actually proved that people usually say someone with a symmetrical face is more attractive than someone who doesn't look so symmetrical and even. The more symmetrical a face the person has, the better their genes. Or so that's what it says.
you actually might be right in some sense but everyone thinks different im sure there are few guys that woukd choose paris hilton over meagan fox even though im not one of them :) but its hard to say some may think its just to make people feel better but i met people who finds girl that i dont find attractive at all attractive but still hard to give a direct answer.
i think it is. really. but a lot of people dont cash in on their talents or arent confidant enough and that makes them a bit unattractive. Then we tend not to notice them so much. and remember, a lot of people may run after someone beautiful but maybe they dont suit that person so well! Maybe a lot of them are shallow or not on that person's level of looks and then how much does that benefit the beautiful one?
i guess what you're saying is true. It just depends on the persons personal taste. Some people are more picky than others and have preferences, while others see beauty in everyone . So yes, beauty truly is in the eye of the beholder. I agree.

Becasue beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder. So basically your idea of beauty in your own opinion and since everybody has different opinions everybody has thier own loook on what is attractive to them. (:

Yes. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, which is always different depending on the person. Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.
it is in the eye of the beholder. like some guys like emo girls and some guys like that ghetto-ish look and some guys like a clean cut look.
yeah its in the eye of the person or w/e. my friends think guys are insanely hott, and i think hideous. and i find some guys realllly cute, and some of my friends are like ew. lol
