Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?

I say yes

But, to me, the character is more important

If a guy is as hot as hell but has a bad character, bye bye

If you dont believe that youre beautiful and think that youre ugly,it shows in the way you walk, talk, behave and how you give yourself

Pride is something everyone has and should have because if you dont have that you seem ';ugly'; and not interessting for others.

If youre not always happy with yourself then build up your confidence by remembering that youve got the personality someone ';beautiful'; in the eyes of others does not have.

Just always remember that youre you and that more than good enough ;-)Is beauty really in the eye of the beholder?
yesIs beauty really in the eye of the beholder?
Yes, I think so because if you go by looks only, then that leaves out all of the people who weren't born like a model. I am not pretty at all(my opinon) and that means, to most men, I'm not beautiful. If you go by personality and not by looks, then everyone can be beautiful and not just super models.
Of course not! Its in the eye of the BEER-holder! lol
yewh
Yes
it's all perception.
I think it is mostly, but once in a while you will come across a truly beatifull person, that every one know is beautiful, like.....Tyra Banks, or Keira Knightley.
Yup.

Just because a person looks good to you, doesn't mean that same person looks good to me.

  • What do you understand about the phrase ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

    Meaning

    Literal meaning

    Origin

This saying first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek. It didn't appear in its current form in print until the 19th century, but in the meantime there were various written forms that expressed much the same thought. In 1588, the English dramatist John Lyly, in his Euphues and his England, wrote:

    ';...as neere is Fancie to Beautie, as the pricke to the Rose, as the stalke to the rynde, as the earth to the roote.';

Shakespeare expressed a similar sentiment in Love's Labours Lost, 1588:

Good Lord Boyet, my beauty, though but mean,

Needs not the painted flourish of your praise:

Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye,

Not utter'd by base sale of chapmen's tonguesWhat do you understand about the phrase ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?

What do you understand about the phrase ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?
    That it's about personal perspective.

As it is said - there a few real truths in the world...the rest is just perspective.
The message is essentially 'perception is everything'. For instance, a woman may appear beautiful to one man, but quite ordinary to another. Nothing has changed about the woman--it is only the perceiver that has changed.
excerpts: ';This means that something or someone is beautiful, depending on the person who is looking.

    For example, if my child draws a picture, using many colors and asymmetrical lines, and writes down, ';Dad, I love you';, I think that it is beautiful. But if another person looks at the picture, he may think, ';It's good, but my son drew a better picture.';

Another example is in art. If I look at a painting by a famous artist, it is possible that I can't understand it and think it's ugly, but if another person such as a famous painter sees it, he will surely say that it is beautiful.

    I think people judge beauty just in relationship to themselves. If I wear casual clothes to my job, the people who like wearing formal clothes might say that I look ugly.';
i get that it means while someone may look at a flower and say its beautiful but another may say that it is the ugliest flower in the world beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It means that what is considered beautiful depends on the person doin the beholding.
Beauty is in the eye of the person who sees it...in other words not everyone will agree that someone is beautiful or something is beautiful.
Everyone has their own idea what is beautiful and is likely to be different than someone else's idea of beauty.
Beauty is subjective. People can only express their personal or professional opinions about something. No one can say with absolute authority that something is beautiful or not.

    Peace and Love
    To me, I think it means that everyone's standard of beauty is different thus it depends on the person or ';...the eye of the beholder';

    :]

    I think it is true.

People have different feelings about different things. Some people look for looks. Others look for personality. If they feel a person is attractive, it doesn't always have to be because the person looks beautiful. The person could be the most humble, caring person on earth. This might not appeal to someone else because they're not good looking from the outside.

So, basically - what you perceive the person to be is what you're gonna describe the person as. This is naturally going to vary from person to person.
True because we all see what we want to see.
True because people judge the external temporary manifestation of the true self. It is uniquely relative.
Yep, it's true. What to one is beauty is ugliness to another. It's all about perspective.

Life is like a gi-normas Diamond with light refracting from it in all directions. We, the human race, are all standing around the Diamond asking one another what is the meaning of life. Well, it kinda depends on where you are standing and the light you are seeing reflecting from the diamond in the place you are. One says ';it's definitely blue';, the other says ';no it is isn't, it's red';, the other sees ';green'; and yet another sees ';orange'; or ';yellow';. Each, standing in their own perspective sees the same Diamond but with different views, none of which is wrong for them. But each is right in and of themselves from where they stand. The Diamond is still the same Diamond, but it depends on where you are standing as to which perspective you have and what color you see.

So, beauty, and all of life for that matter, depends on the eye of the beholder.
OMG ! THAT WAS from twightlight zone, we had to watch it for art stupid but yeah. lol ! i guess true idk i didn't rly pay action to it. ROFL.

Our perceptions of the world are selective. Our eyes seek out that which we covet.

We hear what we want to. See what we want to.

One man's filth is another man's treasure trove.

Ergo, to the eyes, what is to be found as aesthetically pleasing depends on to whom the eyes belong.
definitely true. how many times do u see a couple and think... jeeeze whats he/she doing with her/him. the more i like someone the more beautiful they seem.
Of course. No two people see something the same way. It all depends on past experience and stuff like that.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder does he have a hard time seeing?

I think Heaton Rotheray (The Beautiful South) says it all in his song

    It doesn't take a mathematician

    Either you are simply beautiful

    Or I am simply dumb

It don't take a telescope for you to love me

Dumb, dumb, dumbIf beauty is in the eye of the beholder does he have a hard time seeing?
I guess you don't understand the phrase. let me make it simple for you, is not everything that looks good on the out side is actually good on the inside, hence the beholder does not think a person as perfect, because they are pretty and have a good body. The beholder see you for what you are, if your unkind, a horrible person, a liar, a cheat, do evil things to others, he is going to see all that and no matter how good looking and sexy you look your only going to seen as a horrible person. If beauty is in the eye of the beholder does he have a hard time seeing?
depends who the beholder is , but everyone has the potential to view the world in its beautiful form, whether they chose to view the world or someone in this way is a different matter !

prob not helped you but , oh well !
if he has a hard time seeing he can always let his fingers do the walking and explore all areas of the map and find the prize.

If beauty lies in the eye of the beholder, then who is the beholder?

    ''To 'behold'' is to look.

The one who looks is the one who sees, and it often takes a someone special to perceive the beauty of someone who, seemingly, has been overlooked in the eyes of others.

If beauty is in eye of beholder, How do you judge intelligence?

Measure the size of the person's brain. Einstein's brain was enormous. Sad but true. People actually do this.If beauty is in eye of beholder, How do you judge intelligence?

    By your level of intelligence.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, wouldn't that make faith in the eye of the believer?

Faith is in the heart of the believer.

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, wouldn't that make faith in the eye of the believer?
Just the opposite, woolly thinking blowhard. There are beautiful things. The beauty is there, it is only perceived. We don't create it !

Faith does not create God, because then it would be subsequent to God. And what does the eye have to do with it.

and of course you already predetermined the answer because you could easily have said :

If faith is not in the eye of the believer, then is beauty in the eye of the beholder ?

If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, wouldn't that make faith in the eye of the believer?
Faith is in the heart of every believer, but that's the rub, you have to be a believer. Beauty will be whatever it is as determined by whomever is viewing it. A measure of faith has been deposited within each of us and it is up to us to cultivate that faith.

    Blessings
Just because beauty is in the eye of the beholder does not mean it is only subjective. It often means the beholder is capable of recognizing the objectiveness of the beauty. Faith is definitely in that category. Faith becomes belief in the reality.
Umm...I'm not sure the analogy holds. I think faith is faith regardless of the beholder. It's still the acceptance of something without any regard to proof or evidence.
This is a bad analogy beauty is mutable faith is absolute..
    Exactly.

Now just wait for ';faith is in the eye of the beholder, but Hell certainly isn't'; or something like that.
That's a great way to put it. I noticed a comment saying one is opinion and the other is fact, but that's their perspective (eye).

Initial responses to something are almost always cultural and groups of people can be expected to respond the same way, however as one person or thing becomes increasingly familiar to someone his/her ideas about the beauty of that person or thing will shift to become increasingly consistent with his/her overall attitude towards that person or things

Um, yup. Just about everyone finds something different beautiful. Killers findbeauty in blood and death, others fidn beauty in the lines of blueprints, and other find beauty in the curve of a tree branch against a setting sun. People are different and thus, we find different things beautiful, so in effect, all things are beautiful to someone, if not necesarily right.
All things in nature are beautiful in their own unique way .Only people view beauty differently. It is usually influenced by region , race, countries; indirectly the conception of beauty is different and varies from person to person.
    duh.
no, because not everyone finds everything beautiful.

Its very sad to be shallow and not alot of people know it they are, judging people by looks or stereotypes.

'; Beholder.';It is always depends on how people look at a person- how are you attracted and reacted.
somethings may be beautiful to some but not to others, so yea all things are beautiful but not to the same people
All things are beautiful to someone. ';one man's trash is another man's treasure'; is also true. Everything is worth something to someone...just a matter of finding the right person.

Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder ?

    Do you believe this ?

What's it mean to you ?Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder ?
I believe it. What else could it be? It would be nice to think that we are surrounded by all things beautiful and that life is so dandy that everything is beautiful to everyone, but it isn't like that. So we all pick and choose. To me it's just a matter of personal preference.Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder ?
Yes, beauty is a matter of opinion and preference. There are common things that the majority of society agrees is beautiful, but this does not make it law. Just popular opinion.

Beauty: the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest).
Yes, I believe that. And, to me, it means that what is beautiful to one person may not be beautiful to another. We're all entitled to our opinions of beauty, which is what I think is so wrong about the media. It seems like they're forcing their beliefs of what is beautiful on the rest fo the world.
    definitely believe it.

it just means that to you someone can be gorgeous but to you next door neighbor, or whoever else, they can be hideous. just like some people things blondes are pretty and others think brunettes are pretty. just a matter of opinion/
yea def. because me and my friends can be looking at the same guy and think that total different things.. different things attract different ppl.

What is and who is ';Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder'; or is it by sex or having sex or making love? WHY?

Yeah its got nothin to do with sex..like nothing at all, no joke lol Beauty in the eyes of the Beholder is actually a spiritual/religious reference. Its saying every human being was created by our almighty God. God created us all differently, inside and out, and he is our Beholder because he is the Creator. God created every detail of us in his own perfect way, and so therefore we are all beautiful in his eyes, cause we are created in the image of himself by himself. What is and who is ';Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder'; or is it by sex or having sex or making love? WHY?
';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'; means that everyone has a different type of thing that they see as beautiful, and only that person can call it such. I say my man is beautiful, another might not. But only I can say what I think is beautiful. Your beauty is not my beauty!

It's not about sex at all. It can be about anything - people, inward beauty or outward beauty, houses, animals, trees... anything. What is and who is ';Beauty is in the eye of the Beholder'; or is it by sex or having sex or making love? WHY?
It means that everybody interprets beauty differently.Beauty to some is ugly to others, so beauty is in the eye (is determined) by the beholder (the person viewing and judging what is beautiful)....as for the sex thing...not sure...and I don't know why!
Hehe, it has nothing to do with sex or having sex or any of the above. It's what you, yourself, sees as beautiful or ugly. For example, I think the white house is gorgeous but you may think it's ugly.
sex for me is gender or the act of having sexual intercourse

making love for me is the act of showing your feelings thru sexual intercourse.
nothing to do with sex really.

Is it true that beauty is in the eye of the apiarist?

Wait a minute, do you mean ';bee-holder';? Well, that's a strange way to put it, but to answer your question, yes. What's attractive to one person, is not necessarily attractive to another. Here's something else; we tend to be drawn to people who not only share similar interests, but similar physical features as well.Is it true that beauty is in the eye of the apiarist?
Ok, this belongs in jokes and riddles, right?

What does beekeeping have to do with beauty?

Only link I can find is ';honey.';Is it true that beauty is in the eye of the apiarist?
It depends on who's holding the bees and who's beholding them.
Well I suppose it might be.
Only an apiarist can handle the sting of rejection.
I thought beauty was all over..not just the eye..?
Beauty can sting like a bee in the eye of the apiarist, whether the apiarist is the one who is beautiful or the one who admires the beautiful. In other words, beauty can have ugly consequences for anyone who beholds it.

I don't accept the popular claim that beauty is just a matter of perception. The aesthetic perceptions of some individuals are more accurate than the perceptions of others. For instance, some minds are more capable of recognizing the beauty of other minds, whereas there are minds that look only for the ugliness, and so that is all they find.
YES. 100% TRUE. If beauty (of some one) clicks U its the most beautiful feature on earth 4 U but, on the other hand the same will not be beautiful at all 4 some one els.
doubt it. it's hard to see his bees clearly with that protective netting over his face!

  • Beauty is in the eye of the beholder? True or False?

How is that true? I do understand people have different preferences but if you are physically beautiful you will always have a group of admirers regardless of where you go. Not everyone will see you as pretty or approach you but most people will say you're pretty. There is even scientific research that claims that physical beauty is somewhat universal. For women, bigger, symmetrical perky boobs along with a small waistline and wide hips is attractive. The women that most men find attractive naturally have higher levels of estrogen than others.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder? True or False?
even though many guys may find that woman attractive...the fact that they find her attractive proves that they have preferences. not all guys like big boobs and that stuff %26gt;.%26gt;. the statement is TRUEBeauty is in the eye of the beholder? True or False?
I would say both true and false.

Scientific information can back up the false, but you could factor in inner beauty and personal preferences.

I'm not sure how valid the information you provided is, but there were similar facts in a book that I read. It has to do with pleasure centers/aesthetics and psychology and whatnot.

I do also know that the more I see a persons positive traits, the more likely I am to also see them as physically beautiful. I do also have preferenes, as with everyone else. What I mean here is, the curvy blond may be attractive to many people, but the guy with the pink mohawk may prefer the one with the green mohawk.

Sometimes, it is a matter of how things fit together. The example my friend, Li Lian, and I discussed was, which looks nicer in the garden, flowers or lightbulbs? While some may prefer the lightbulbs, most prefer the flowers.

find someone attactive because of their body , that is a physcial attaction , she turns around and her looks are just common , not

what you thought she would look like . If her looks attract you

first and her body is not what you would want , then what?

A woman that is thin , full figured , ugly , beautiful , they have

one thing in common , they are women ..

Would you walk away from a woman who is thin and beautfful ?

Of course not , but inside she is the meanest , most arrogant

woman you ever met . Flip it over , if the woman is not great looking doesn't have the greatest body but her personality shines ..

That my friend , Is Beauty .. And the Beholder can look into her eyes

    and see Beauty ..
    True.

It's because this thing we call beauty is mainly a perceptual thing. We call something beautiful because it looks beautiful to us. If there isn't a person there to see, beauty isn't recognized (and even if no one's around, and the beautiful person looks in the mirror: that person is the observer and the observed!). Granted certain measurements and geometric configurations, as well as physical health, seem to do their magic. But again, If a person isn't there to conclude ';beautiful,'; all it is is substance at a point and place in time.

Beauty is a conclusion in the mind an heart of the person looking.
    TRUE

It was even a social game I liked playing in my mind. I loved to strike up conversations with ';average - unattractive'; looking men. Then I'd sit there staring while in conversation %26amp; pick out what I found to be physically ';beautiful'; about them. Now add that + personality and all of the sudden I'm talking to a very attractive man.

It worked 100% of the time. It's fun trying to find G-d's hidden beauty everywhere around me. People should try it sometime.
That's an interesting question. I always said that I would never have chosen my husband, if I met him on a dance floor. But I met him on a blind date (do they have such a thing now adays?). And something magical happened the longer I got to know him. Not only did I fall madly in love with him, but he started to look handsome to me. I was more physically attracted to him than anyone else I met. So I guess, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

My husband died recently, and even in old age, and ill health, he was still handsome.
it just depends on your experiences with people and things. with parents, their kid could be the ugliest brattiest thing on the planet, they will tell you how beautiful their child is.

Some guys like bigger girls, and some guys like the stick thin model types. Some girls like tall geeky looking guys and some like short beefy guys. It's all a matter of what you like and don't like.
True. Because I fell in love with a drug-addict, he as the nicest guy ever, and he had a good heart. However, almost everyone hated the guy. But to me, he was an angel.
Beauty is not limited nor constricted to the face or the form...

The phrase refers to one who can appreciate true formless beauty.
True, if you develop the ability to see behind the outer camouflage that is sometimes presented?
    True

    Sure
    ...false, my mind says otherwise...

How do you employ ';beauty in the eye of the beholder'; w/ an example that would defy general consensus?

In high school a very plain girl without curves married the best looking boy in school. She was not sugar sweet nor mean just a nice person. I know he saw something special in her that maybe others did not see. PoppyHow do you employ ';beauty in the eye of the beholder'; w/ an example that would defy general consensus?

How do you employ ';beauty in the eye of the beholder'; w/ an example that would defy general consensus?
'; Beauty is in the eye of the beholder '; has always reminded me that there are many different opinions and viewpoints regarding most things. That idea has encouraged me to attempt to recognize and consider all aspects. That does not suggest that I am liberal in my thinking because I very rarely differ in my final convictions. I do want to practice and exercise my freedoms. An example that would defy general consensus would be something that no one would or could find beauty in and my idea would be an animal being eaten alive by screwworms. Anyone that has never seen this would not understand and therefore would not be able to disagree and anyone who has seen this and doctored these poor animals would totally agree.
Remember, the rose is beautiful, but it has thorns. True beauty is not what you see on the outside, but the person you see on the inside. A person can be quite ordinary, but one of the most lovable people you know, and a very beautiful person can have many thorns. This is not true in all cases, but we do see it.
I know a lady who is 100 years old (I clean her house). She is short, wrinkled, gray haired, etc. But to me she is one of the most beautiful people I know, due to her kind heart, her joy in life, her wisdom, and her ability to make others laugh. To me, she is truly an inspiration, and I am happy to have known her for many years.
It has always been my nature to look to the inside of people before the outside. I always fall in love with their personality. their spirit. Even my own mother had a hard time understanding me. I would turn down dates with handsome men and date someone that would not be considered handsome but I would enjoy their company so much and they would make me laugh and treat me with the utmost respect. So, when I brought home the man I decided to spend the rest of my life with who was 6 inches shorter than me and not the most handsome of men, it did not surprise them. But, in a very short time my parents loved him like he was their own son. His lust for life, keen sense of humor, and the fact that he treated me like a queen, won them over. 38 years later we are still very much in love and he is still the same wonderful man.
The owner of that dog that keeps winning ';The ugliest dog in America'; contest will tell you all about it ! That poor thing has no hair except for one tuft on top his head, he has no teeth and a tongue that hangs out. . he slobbers and his eyes bulge out and one is crossed ! He is hunched back and has arthritis in his knees. . . . but the owner loves him to pieces !!!!
At its simplest, Kate Moss. Never understood what the attraction was with her, except maybe to all those pedophils back when she was still young looking. Besides being too skinny, I always kind of felt she was totally not in control of her own life, that maybe modeling wasn't something she actually liked doing. And now she's a joke at such a young age.
We have a neighbor who is old, nasty tempered and looks like a troll. He still manages to get women to come home with him. Just the thought of him with no clothes on is enough to make me lose my cookies!
    Danny Bonaduce. :-)
Think Barbra Streisand. Her looks defied hollywood glamour but her talent made her a star.
I want to have sex with the elephant man.

    How's that?

Beauty is only skin deep, and eye of beholer?

is a lie; a good one.

There is a specific size and shape for everything to grow into, and there is a magic number for that growth.

there is a 'mask' with the shapes that would represent genuine beauty. Can you find it? what was it caled?Beauty is only skin deep, and eye of beholer?
    Marquardt Beauty Mask:

    http://images.google.com/images?hl=en%26amp;cl鈥?/a>

Is that what you're talking about?

One could make an argument that ';beautiful'; faces fit mathematical parameters. BUT, there is definitely room for variation within those parameters, thus, beauty IS - in some measure - in the eye of the beholder.Beauty is only skin deep, and eye of beholer?
beauty, is an opinion. not a fact.

Is freedom, like beauty, in the eye of the beholder?

can one who considers themselves free really be caged? Is freedom, like beauty, in the eye of the beholder?
For most freedom is beyond the physical. It is mind actions and values of the highest order. Is freedom, like beauty, in the eye of the beholder?
Yes indeed, very much so. Some evoke a longing for liberation and the freeing of ones shackles or bonds. Others inspire a need to be attached, affiliated or a part of their lives. It is a matter of relativity. Freedom is made an issue only by its absence or by constraining the Spririt or ones civil liberties. Equanimity, social or personal would not propose freedom or capture.

Economic freedom is having a nest egg sufficient to occasion the instance of one not working or being able to work, and remain financially solvent for the entirety of one鈥檚 comfortable and secure life..
Freedom is subjective. Some people feel there is a monitary value to freedom while others believe that values or ethics prove freedom.

So yes, freedom is in the eyes of the beholder.
If someone had never known freedom the way I experience freedom, they'd not know the difference...so, I would say yes.
freedom is never someone's subjective opinion. it just can't be.
A person who believes himself to be free cannot be caged. Many may disagree with me here. But he he was so free, he could just leave the cage. YES freedom, does endanger your life.

Everyone sees freedom in a different way. But schools are now saying that ';free'; is America and Americans. Don't believe that load of bull.
Freedom is in the eye of the beholder...for example.....you could be living by urself, surviving on ur own. But inorder to survive, a career is necessary. Can someone who has to follow a set schedule truly free?

Any beauty tips/tricks to cover eye pouch/dark circles?

Buy a good concealer. Test out the best colors that suits your skin tone at a cosmetics counters. (Tip: Tell the makeup artist you are looking to correct the undereye circles and are testing several different types before purchase). Choose concealer that's a shade lighter than your foundation. And if your circles are very dark, go 2 shades lighter. You might be choosing a concealer that's too light if you are getting a 'raccoon look.'

Also it helps to buy a vitamin K-based eye product Eye creams such as Vita-K Solution gel or Peter Thomas Roth Power K Eye Rescue which can help strengthen capillary walls so dark circles and veins become less visible.

And lastly, get 8-10hrs of beauty sleep and drink 8 glasses of water each day.Any beauty tips/tricks to cover eye pouch/dark circles?

  • If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, why do we have fashion guru's and art critics?

Cool question. I'm sure it's because we all like to be critical and slag others off. It's in human nature I'm afraid...If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, why do we have fashion guru's and art critics?
We only have these people in the rich parts of the world so it's a money thing! No one goes to comment on the art or dress of poorer countries yet probably what is on offer there is more real and attractive. I think too these people think they are more 'educated' and/or a cut above ordinary mortals! If beauty is in the eye of the beholder, why do we have fashion guru's and art critics?
I think because people who are not as attractive as others have a need to compensate for their lack of, or perhaps this is their way of gaining power of the high school ';Mr %26amp; Miss compertition'; where they were riduculed for not being pretty/handsome enough to enter.....

    who knows really!!
People all have their special interests and so they study or focus on those things and have more background knowledge to share.

Also, it seems that people are like sheep: we like to follow a leader, so we look to ';the experts'; to tell us what we're SUPPOSED to think is beautiful or fashionable at any given time.......
that is because many people are not capable of living out of a circle and be adventurous with their way of dressing and behaving. Thus they need somone to tell them what looks nice, and what looks cool, and what is the best way to behave so as to become more and more the same in a closed circle of people... people who are different are out of the circle and therefor not IN... i personally feel that those who are not in are not DEPENDENT on anyone and that the IN crowd might actually fear their diversity.
beauy in the eye of the beholder donot have nothing to do with society's fashion guru's, as such. This is a medium which is preferably created via human to supplement our insecurities, have you ever seen some of those fashion guru's? most of their physical features donot represents likes such as Tyra Banks, Naomi Campbell etc. they are normal 'average joe'.It's

has if we as humans are looking for the next perfect physical been (its as if we all are trying to create our personal fantasy been), created via society's 'faith of choice' which is force on us as a whole on what is perfect and what physical been is aspectable in society's eyes as a whole. Guru's %26amp; critics professional's basically gives them back in some aspect that control or power --- its a mean of 'mind over beauty'.......you could even insinuate at some level that you yourself is a critic in some aspect foe e.g. flicking through different T.V. channels but why do you chose to flick from on to another, you have the preference.....
they tell us what they think - me I personally think Viviene Westwoods work was a cry for help...
Because some people want to be that, and once you have someone to proclaim themselves as one, others naturally go to them for advice. So, too, is it the case that people will want someone to go to, so others will fill the void. It's a circle.

Also, people are critical and expressive; some are.
It's called the freedom of choice..........Still beauty is in the eye of the beholder and the heart is what tells you just how beautiful one is......
The Creation Of A Vagina ......

i would change a few words thought ...

    lol

do these 10 person things work ? NO ! try the 3 person plan ! lighter better welthier !

pass on to 3 to get a good laff !
That's a good Question! I guess there are just too many people out there that want to tell us how to live to THEIR standards!
because in any human endeavor, we seek the highest standards

why do we have sports competitions? spelling bees? grade point averages? miss america contests? car races? etc etc

we want a 'winner' to measure the rest by
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, has nothing to do with fashion or art. This is simply a thing of the heart. Ever like someone alot who isn't very attractive? Yet you don't really see that, and kind of wonder why others think you're crazy for liking this person? Like/Love is blind, so beauty is in the eye of the beholder!
Because some people are easily led ,and give someone a title and they fourn over them
    Guru - binocular

    critics - Microscope
There are one or two good answers here but, in most cases, we have art critics and experts because we have an Art Establishment - galleries, fashion houses, magazines (and artists) - who rely on 'experts' to explain why things are 'good'. Art collectors want to know who to invest their money in. Clothing manufacturers want to know what fashion in the next season's big thing.

Generally art/fashion critics have considerable knowledge of their subject and people value what they say. Though like in everything else you have critics with different agendas, progressive, conservative etc.

And, before I finally shut up, I should add that we normally see beauty in things because we are told they are beautiful - beautiful women in the 1950's were rounded and voluptuos while today celebrities and fashion models are often stick thin. The Impressionist painters are very popular today but 130 years ago they could not even get an exhibition!
beauty is not the only thing involved in fashion and art...also theres perfection, rhythm, hormony, etc things. obviously, those need specialists too/

Who was the person who originally said ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.';?

The entire paragraph below is from http://www.phrases.org.uk/meanings/59100鈥?/a>

    Meaning : Literal meaning

Origin : This saying first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek. It didn't appear in its current form in print until the 19th century, but in the meantime there were various written forms that expressed much the same thought. In 1588, the English dramatist John Lyly, in his Euphues and his England, wrote:

    ';...as neere is Fancie to Beautie, as the pricke to the Rose, as the stalke to the rynde, as the earth to the roote.';

Shakespeare expressed a similar sentiment in Love's Labours Lost, 1588:

Good Lord Boyet, my beauty, though but mean,

Needs not the painted flourish of your praise:

Beauty is bought by judgement of the eye,

Not utter'd by base sale of chapmen's tongues

Benjamin Franklin, in Poor Richard's Almanack, 1741, wrote:

    Beauty, like supreme dominion

    Is but supported by opinion

David Hume's Essays, Moral and Political, 1742, include:

    ';Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them.';

The person who is widely credited with coining the saying in its current form is Margaret Wolfe Hungerford (n茅e Hamilton), who wrote many books, often under the pseudonym of 'The Duchess'. In Molly Bawn, 1878, there's the line ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder';, which is the earliest citation of it that I can find in print.Who was the person who originally said ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.';?

Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty - they merely move it from their faces into their hearts.

    Buxbaum, Martin

I don't like standard beauty - there is no beauty without strangeness.

    Lagerfeld, Karl

Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it.

Beauty is an OPINION, not a FACT!
Beauty is perceived differently by each person. This basically says the same thing but I can't say it sounds any smarter.
no single threat is the same
    1. “Everything has its beauty, but not everyone sees it”

    2. “The greatest treasures are those invisible to the eye but

    found by the heart.”

    3. People are like stained-glass windows. They sparkle and

shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in,

their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder? That means there are no ';beautiful people'; because a person can be?

    (continued)

beautiful to one person but ugly to another????Beauty is in the eye of the beholder? That means there are no ';beautiful people'; because a person can be?
meaning that it depends on the person of what they persue as beauty whether it might be physical attraction, or personality and charactersistics. also, that beauty can have an effect by means of how society works. for example, sometimes, a male boss will hire a woman mainly because he is attracted to her. or when it comes to dating, the main reason a girl with a nice personality or good hair or body or whatever would get so many dates, is because of that she attracts men who prefer to look at or be with a nice/pretty woman.

but then when it comes to the terms of pretty to one ugly to the other. it goes back to personal preference that captures their attention.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder? That means there are no ';beautiful people'; because a person can be?
I guess so if you want to be PC about it. But I think that a beautiful person is someone who most people agree is beautiful. Even if one person says they are ugly, they are still beautiful. And vice versa...if a person thinks someone is beautiful that most agree is ugly, that person is still ugly. Usually most people generaly agree on who is beautiful even if they don't agree on the degree of beauty, so I don't buy that beauty is in the eye of the beholder crap.
    Everything is relative!!

So yes, what looks good to you might look ugly to another!!

Beauty really is in the eye of the beholder, coz when we talk about beauty we (subconsciously) also talk bout the way a person acts, the way he/she talks!!

So u'll always find someone ready to tell you that even Miss universe's ugly and even if you don't believe your ears you'll have to respect their opinion!!

People have different tastes!!! There's no absolute beauty!!
That whole ';beauty is in the eyes of the beholder'; is just a euphemism meant to make people who are generally considered unattractive feel better about themselves.
Rosenshragg? why is your name that?

I agree with your question yong peng, beauty is in the eye of the beholder
Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder like more cushion 4 the pushing!

To me people just say that because some people can't see very well and hence it affects how they see something.

then again, I shouldn't be judging.

  • What do you think about Beauty lies in beholders eye? Why people can not be honest to others ?

    When I hear ';Beauty lies in beholders eye';. I think of kids. When mostly it's about love and everyone loves different things. It Kind of falls in line with ';one mans trash is another mans treasure.';

Honesty, some people are very honest. Dishonest people lie to hide things that will get them in trouble or make them look bad. Of course, some people just lie out of habit. What do you think about Beauty lies in beholders eye? Why people can not be honest to others ?
true about beauty and people cannot be honest because they like hiding things

Are beauty marks attractive on girls when there near the mouth and when there right under the eye?

I think they are really unique. I have one beside my lip and right where my eyebrow ends. Are beauty marks attractive on girls when there near the mouth and when there right under the eye?
Well i have those and i think its a way that makes us differently beautiful than other ppl. And i like how they are positioned! any beauty mark is good. Doesn't mean that we're ugly their just there. And yes i think they are attractiveAre beauty marks attractive on girls when there near the mouth and when there right under the eye?
    haaaaah yes.
I hope so. I have one near my lip and my eye!
Beauty marks are pretty for sure! As long as they aren't like.. enormous, like wart sized and bulgy. I have one by my mouth, on the left in the crease of my smile and I've always liked it.

    lol Yeah, I agree.
Yes and there are no ugly woman at 2 A.m.

Why do you feel people don't believe in the saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder?

Because society tells us that beauty is A, and some people believe that is 100% true. Just because I think that B is beautiful, doesnt make me right, if society says otherwise.

(rolls eyes)Why do you feel people don't believe in the saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
Marketing leads us to believe that the beautiful people have everything...better, faster cars; nicer, more expensive, hot clothes; watches that tell you the time for every major city in the world; huge, flatscreen TVs...

Unfortunately, folk fall for this hypnotic draw.

And, it is an ego thing. You must be the bomb if you have a ';10'; hanging off your arm.

In today's instant gratification society, no one wants to take the time to get to know a person. It's sad.Why do you feel people don't believe in the saying beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
    Because UGLY is UGLY!!!!!
Because they feel their opinion on what is beautiful or not is an across-the-board absolute fact and not an opinion. What they don't understand is that it's a fact for THEM but not everybody else. So anyone that contradicts their thinking they see as 'wrong' as opposed to just 'different'. It's an indication of small-mindedness.
Because at a physiological level we are wired to notice appearance, and to respond to it.

Brain scans show that people respond to certain stimuli in very consistant ways across the board, which indicates that our instinct is to respond to certain appearances. This is not weird since in many parts of the animal kingdom physical display is directly linked to reproductive potential.

People who live the ';beauty is in the eye. . .'; doctrine do so because they have tamed their natural impulse to respond to appearance.

As human beings we are capable of acting with a rationalization beyond physiological impulse, but that requires us to press beyond our initial impulses attached to any given encounter. For instance, you may meet someone who pleases you at first impulse, but on experiencing their personality you find they are disagreeable. You changed your mind based on further evidence, but for people who please you on first sight, and you never get a chance to know them better, you continue to connect them with your first impulse, which was the neurological reaction wired into your brain.

So I think for encounters that never go deeper than a first impression, appearance is all that matters.
Because everyone is so obsessed in what everybody else thinks. Pretty sad, actually.
Because hot chicks are a lot sexier than ugly chicks.
I don't know, because it is SOOOO true!Maybe they have ';never'; experienced it?!

I definitely agree with that. It seems that if you're close to someone, just seeing them reminds you of them, and not just how they look... so even if they're not that attractive, you're reminded of their personality when you see them.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder?
    The way I see it:

You don't see with your eyes, you look with you eyes. You see with your mind, and with your mind you see others' minds, and with that you can decipher their true beauty.

They can't think of a better way to say it.

    OR

    They can't think, fullstop.
Because sometimes the answer just fits!!! I said it the other day when someone asked '; who is cuter in this picture, me or her?'; and I don't think that is very nice and I didn't want to hurt anyones feelings. So in that case it just fit!!!!
    Why not?
Cliche's are never stupid but there are questions that certainly are!
Boy, you really brought that one on, didn't you? LOL

Before they were ';stupid cliches';, these phrases were a bit more meaningful. It's just part of the way people communicate; maybe it's best not to let it get under your skin.
Why do some people ask stupid questions? Even though it may be a cliche if it is appropriate so what?
I've done it...in some cases the cliches fit in with the question.

    Does eye color determine beauty?

I'm starting to think it does...cause every time a fat, deformed-looking girl on here asks if she is pretty, everyone says ';yeah'; if she has blue or green eyes and ';no'; if she has hazel or brown eyes. I don't get it. Do you think eye color is what makes someone pretty?Does eye color determine beauty?
I think brown eyes and hazel eyes are just as pretty as green or blue eyes (not just because my eyes are dark brown). I guess blue or green eyes are more rare than brown eyes... I don't know. I actually like brown eyes more. They have depth to them and contrast good with hair and skin color. I think the size and shape of eyes are more potent in facial beauty than the color. Facial structure, lips size and shape etc... they all contribute to someones beauty. Eye color is minute. Maybe they are trying to make the girl feel better about herself because it is likely that she never gets an compliments. I hope this answers your question :)Does eye color determine beauty?
No, i definitely don't think so. In fact, studies have shown that what unconsciously makes us think someone is good looking is the symmetry of their faces - what we consider to be ugly people have less symmetric faces.

Personally, I prefer brown eyes on people, while I myself have blue eyes.
Well it can certainly help... But it's is very subjective... I hate blue eyes and totally adore green and brown ones... But it does not determine your being ugly or not... There is face structure, body type, confidence and even hair....
nope. i dont even think that eye color matters that much.

Is beauty in the eye and what is the defined of true beauty?

To some people beauty is only skin deep. To others, that's all that matters. On Dr. Phill (yeah, I know, crap show, but still...) the other day, he had people on there who wanted nothing to do with people who weren't good looking. They would treat people that they didn't find worthy enough with the uttermost disrespect and crudeness. It was appalling.

I always think of it this way, God may not have made everyone beautiful, but he made them unique. If everyone were to look the same or perfect, than what would be special about that? Would they be as appealing as someone who looked different?

The definition of true beauty can mean many different things to different people. To me, beauty is a combonation of things. Yes, there is the skin deep kind. The kind that grabs your attention right away, but sometimes that doesn't necessarily mean that their beauty makes them a beautiful and kind person. Sometimes you have to give people a chance to show how wonderful they are.

Not everybody has the same thoughts on what beauty is. Maybe there are some people that dont' think that you are beautiful, maybe some do. Like I said before. Beauty is a tough question, but no matter how beautiful or ugly a person is, remember that they are a person. Everyone has feelings, and to me, those who are able to show humility and compassion show more beauty than can ever been seen on their face.Is beauty in the eye and what is the defined of true beauty?
Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder.

Beauty is defined differently by each person. I would say that most people find a great personality beautiful, also if a person has a good heart/soul. Someone caring, funny, forgiving and loving. When you meet people like that- you just feel good all over. Sometimes it does not matter about their appearance! Nice hair, bright eyes and a nice smile also helps a person look very attractive...and I would say that would be considered as ';true beauty'; (:Is beauty in the eye and what is the defined of true beauty?
beuty is in the beholders eye and there CANNOT be any definition of beauty.
True beauty how you present yourself and confidence!
    Personality, heart and soul!!

Aren't you so sick of hearing ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?

jeez i should put like some kind of trademaark on that quote.Aren't you so sick of hearing ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?
It's a little cliche in the ';Am I pretty'; questions.I think people just say that when they have nothing else to say and they don't want to be mean.

The saying is true though. While one person may think someone is beautiful the other person might think she's a dog.You can see that on those questions.10 people think the girl is pretty and the other 10 think she's scary looking.Everyone has different tastes.

It does get a little old though no matter how true it isAren't you so sick of hearing ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?

    nope
    No, because it's completely true.
I'm not sick of it. I don't hear it that much and I also greatly believe in it. You can have someone you think is wonderfully handsome until you discover they are a jerk and they become less and less attractive to you. People also have their own preferences anyway.
    no, becuase itss the truthh.
never im sick of hearing about brittany spears
I don't hear it often so I'm not really sick of it --- but I certainly believe it.
you mean patent? anyways it may sound like a cliche but its true because there is not one thing in this world that EVERYONE will think is beautiful or pretty because even if one person doesnt think so then it cant be truly beautiful...so if you get that phrase a lot you must be pretty ugly...but dont worry ugliness is the same thing as beauty, statistically speaking there's bound to be someone out there that will think you're attractive, which in turn means you cant really be ugly... =]
    Yeah Its Annoying

No, cause it's true, but maybe if they reworded it or something. Maybe then people would listen to it.
    Because you're ugly?

Is ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder?';?

I believe so - everyone has a different opinion of what makes something or someone beautiful. Is ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder?';?
'When you see something as beautiful, you have already created ugliness'Is ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder?';?
i wish it was so...however circumstances don't really help! and well you can't seem to help circumstances :S so as a matter of fact you have control over nothing but your own life ( excluding happiness and beauty of it)
I believe that this is true. What one person deems as being beautiful, another may not...just as what one deems as being ugly, another may find beautiful.
Society is so driven by instant gratification...its qualities like beauty which stand out!
    yes

Developing a good ';beholder's eye'; is a life-enhancing thing. Open your heart and your mind, and your eyes will open as well.

true..beauty is in the eye that sees it..
    Nope

many aspects of beauty are universal and few are subjective.

contrary to popular belief I know but simple mathematics has revealed trends in symmetry and golden proportions in visual beauty and of course as far as music goes there is a whole system that allows to arrange notes and chords into a universally acceptable harmony and melody that appeal to nearly everyone.

Many will tell you that beauty is in the eye of the beholder but this is only true to a fairly small degree.
    Definitely since beauty is subjective
depends is the beholder is beauty eh lol
I do believe beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Yes, always. All aesthetic judgements are entirely subjective. It just so happens that people tend to agree on questions of beauty, but that is not to say that beauty is in any sense objective.

';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'; what does it exactly mean?

an example would be helpful';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'; what does it exactly mean?
To each, his own. What one finds attractive or beautiful another may not. It is a matter of personal perception.';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder'; what does it exactly mean?
The ';eye of the beholder'; refers to the person who is beholding -- the person who is seeing the ';beautiful object'; in question. So, pretend you and I are walking down the street and I see a pretty flower ( I am beholding it) Now I may say, ';Wow that is the most beautiful flower I have ever seen!!'; whereas you might say, ';What are you talking about, it's so ugly!'; If it was up to ME and MY judgment, the flower is beautiful. But if it is up to YOU and YOUR judgment, it is not. Now, how can you really determine who is ';right';? How can anyone really say what is beautiful or what isn't? It's just up to our own interpretation...hence, what is considered ';beauty'; is really up to the eye of the beholder.

    :)
It's along similiar lines to *One man's trash is another man's treasure*

It essentially means, I mind someone beautiful, while another may find them unattractive. It essentially means, your beauty is essentially determined by others.
Individuals have different inclinations on what is beautiful. Individuals have different beauty standards.

In some societies, it's considered beautiful to be an overweight woman
It means the perception of beauty is a cultural/personal thing. Some people may think someone/something is beautiful, but in another culture or to an other person it/they may appear repulsive.
It means that thankfully people are different with different tastes. An example - one of my dreams might be a woman's nightmare.
if you think you hot your hot

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so why do those who say that also tell me what to find beautiful?

Blessed irony.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so why do those who say that also tell me what to find beautiful?
Sigh . . . if they are telling you what is beautiful they are liars.

Your eyes behold whatever they behold and find beautiful.Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, so why do those who say that also tell me what to find beautiful?
Beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder

What does ''beauty is in the eye of the beholder'' mean?

This phrase irritates me because i have absolutely no idea what it means, enlighten me someone :)What does ''beauty is in the eye of the beholder'' mean?
It means that I may find something very ugly, yet you think it is beautiful. The theory that not everyone likes everything the same or thinks the same way. It is very simlair to the phrase ';One man's trash is another man's treasure.'; Often times, we think it is trash or ugly - another person loves it.What does ''beauty is in the eye of the beholder'' mean?
This saying first appeared in the 3rd century BC in Greek. It didn't appear in its current form in print until the 19th century, but in the meantime there were various written forms that expressed much the same thought. In 1588, the English dramatist John Lyly, in his Euphues and his England, wrote:

    ';...as neere is Fancie to Beautie, as the pricke to the Rose, as the stalke to the rynde, as the earth to the roote.';

    ';Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them.';

The person who is widely credited with coining the saying in its current form is Margaret Wolfe Hungerford (n茅e Hamilton), who wrote many books, often under the pseudonym of 'The Duchess'. In Molly Bawn, 1878, there's the line ';Beauty is in the eye of the beholder';, which is the earliest citation of it that I can find in print.

It means that different people will find different things beautiful and that the differences of opinion dosen't matter greatly.
We have different insights and perceptions in life as like seeing the beauty of an individual depends on the person looking , their comments may vary depends on their standards and criteria.
It means that beauty is to the person looking... like in the twilight zone???

well, since everyone was ugly and the girl was pretty since she wasn't like them she was the ugly one
    ';Beauty in things exists merely in the mind which contemplates them.';

    Meaning

    Literal meaning
It simply mean you can be ugly as hell but if your BF see you as gorgeous then you are to him.

    Eye beauty question! Anyone?

Hi! What helps with redness AROUND the eye on the skin part? I swear, some days it looks like I';m all dugged out, and I'm really not! Could someone suggest a cleanser for this particular problem? and it's AROUND the eye, not in the eye. . THANKS! :o)Eye beauty question! Anyone?
it might be a reaction to your make up. just wear no make up or switch to a new make up for a few days.Eye beauty question! Anyone?
If the redness around the eyes is due to allergies a anti-histamine will help. If your a female using concealer will help as well as a cold compress over both eyes. If your a man try just using a cold compress and the anti-histamine. They make non-drowsy formula's just make sure you read the box. If it keeps persisting you I would recommend seeing your doctor.
i don't wear any make up,and women can do as they please.
this sounds like your using an eyemake up your alergit ot or is old, I would leave it off for a few days, toss that stuff your using out, buy new. a nonalergenic brand., Really leave eyes free of make up for a few days, heal when possible, if you need to wear any thing , because of work , do so , but new, and as soon as possilew clean off with eye make remover or some thing that has no alcol in it.. • What does the saying ,beauty is in the eye of the beholder, mean?

“You don’t love a woman because she’s beautiful. She is beautiful because you love her.” – AnonymousWhat does the saying ,beauty is in the eye of the beholder, mean?
It means that everyone has different opinions and feelings. No two people are going to agree on the same feelings about something. Therefore, you might see something and say it is the most beautiful thing you've ever seen, and I could look at the same thing and say that's ugly. In other words, the objects beauty doesn't necessarily come from itself, rather it depends on how the person perceives it to be.What does the saying ,beauty is in the eye of the beholder, mean?
It means that you may find some thing beautiful or attractive, that I don't find beautiful or attractive.

Every one has different tastes, so while you might prefer a blonde w/a small frame, your next door neighbor may prefer a tall brunette.

The person seeing the beauty, has concluded that it is beautiful.
oh this is easy and i often use this quote myself. simply put, what might be ugly to one person is a work of art to another. i find symmetry and natural design when looking at an insect. i mentioned this to a person i work with and she looked at me like i was nuts. she failed to see the beauty in what nature formed and perfected through the ages. all she saw was an insect, ugly and nothing beyond ugly. i saw something else. i saw beauty, lines of distinction, flawless design. there is another quote that is similar to the above: one man's meat is another's poison. by the way, this is why there's white and black, vanilla and chocolate, tea and coffee. not every one will see, like and taste the same as another nor will they appreciate these choices. it's to be expected and it's also human!
Basically it means that whilst I might find one person attractive, another person might find them quite repulsive...therefore the beauty of the person being looked at is in my eyes but the beauty is not in the eyes of someone else. That counts for cars, flowers, trees, towns and countries...everything really.
It means that beauty depends on who's appreciating it. Everyone has their own views about beauty so not everyone would agree about something being beautiful.

    Beauty, I guess, is opinionative.

    Hope that helped. :D
To you I may be beautiful. To another I may be plain. To another i may be homely. To another I may be arrogant. To another I may be sweet...................................…
It means everyone perceives in different ways. Where your friends sees a person ugly, you may see them good looking.

    Call it ';your mind's eye';.
It means that things are beautiful if the person viewing them thinks they are.

    similar to

    ';One man's trash, is another man's treasure';
It means that what may be beautiful to one person, may be ugly to another
    it means everyone is different

Girls I need beauty help, what am I doing wrong with eye cream?

I have been using clinique eye cream for a few months now but I actually think my eyes are looking more wrinkled and more saggy, is there a way to apply?Girls I need beauty help, what am I doing wrong with eye cream?
You should dot a small amount around your eye area and dab it into your skin not rub it as this will cause more wrinklesGirls I need beauty help, what am I doing wrong with eye cream?
I would definitely ask advice of your Clinique consultant, but also, the general advice for eye cream aways seems to be

    --- less is more

----apply iwth the ring finger as it is the weakest and less likely to cause stretching and damage

----apply to the outside corners as the cream migrates inwards anyway.

If nothing works, try a bit of Aloe Vera gel
Eye cream is always applied as a thin layer in upward, circular motions..don't use to much and don't let the cream 'drag' along your skin.Try this method and hopefully that should help.Failing that as an adviser or someone on the boots beauty counter.I find them very helpful :)
Use neem paste with coconut milk and let me know the result after few months.
Clinique is a well established brand, and I'd be surprised that any of their products are ineffective, and I base this on personal experience, not only the commercial campaigns.

The way to apply eye cream is just not to stress the delicate area while doing it. First, mechanically, meaning you shouldn't rub anything into it as these movements will only make it worse. A small amount of cream should be dabbed as lightly as possible from inward towards outward angle of the eye.

Controversy over any given quantity is disputable: I've heard experts argue that there isn't too much when this area is concerned, and others who advocate thin layers. Personally, I've been blessed with almost no lines in that area, and face in general, but I have been using Clinique skin care products more than other brands. They work for me.
actually yes,but it could also be the kind of cream you're using.have you tried arbonne??

    its good stuff...

Do NOT use more than a tiny, and take note of tiny! dab of cream under the eye, do not rub it in either, just slightly press at intervals under the eye.
possibly there is nothing wrong with the eye cream but the way u apply it. plz read the directions on the product once again and mildly dab the cream rather than rubbing it under ur eye area.

How would u explain beauty without saying ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?

is beauty behind comprehension? How would u explain beauty without saying ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?
beauty is not behind but BEYOND comprehensionHow would u explain beauty without saying ';beauty is in the eye of the beholder';?
i would say that a person's idea of beauty would be a combination of aesthetic preferences and personal value of the object or person.
beauty is what someone possesses that is beautiful....
    Beauty is simply symmetry.
We all have our own individual criteria as to what beauty means to each of us.
Well every one has there own idea of what beauty is. Some people like dark hair or dark skin but others might not agee with that.
what the eye looks to see and makes the heart melt.
Looks like the 'mean' of the species.
Beauty is where you find it. Will that do?
I think personal point of view is behind beauty..not just physical beauty either. One minute a thought can be beautiful and the next it irritates. The frame of mind of the person who declares something beautiful cannot be grasped by anyone else. Others may agree or disagree with something being beautiful but they are understanding it from their point of view.
A Classical definition would be that beauty is a perfection of form.
the quality or aggregate of qualities in a person or thing that gives pleasure to the senses or pleasurably exalts the mind or spirit
It depends how you think of beauty. If you are looking for some objective standard you will only find superficial beauty which will ultimately be full of contradictions and opinions. If you think of beauty as the feeling you have upon seeing a person that often depends on many things beyond their physical appearance. Its hard to see the beauty in someone after they have done somthing horrible to you. But when you look on someone you love, for whatever reasons, there is a certain sensation or feeling that you have immediately which results from the way you see them. But basically beauty is subjective, its just a word and like most things of the world defies definition and should just be appreciated. Unfortunately the answer truly is, it is in the eye of the beholder.
beauty is ever changing and often defined by individual cultures

and it provokes a particular response in the individual in that they desire to be in its company
    ';Beauty is that which the Soul recognizes, even when the mind and body deny it.';

    How to maintian eye beauty?

eye beauty starts with the basics such as - firming eye gel,and firming eye creme this way your eyes will get the moisture that they need. Also always remember to remove your makeup at night. This way your eyes will not get that puffiness. All makeup will clog pores so reamember to use a good cleanser at night. I am a senior consultant with Mary Kay cosmetics. • Are there any absolute in beauty? Is beauty really the eye of the beholder?

STOP USING HARD WORDS!!!!!!!Are there any absolute in beauty? Is beauty really the eye of the beholder?
No there isn't...absolute beauty...remember no body in this world is perfect..

Becoz there are people who will think you're pretty and there are people who think you not...

Same for the other person...YOu think she is pretty..but for other's she is not...

beauty is in the eye of the beholderAre there any absolute in beauty? Is beauty really the eye of the beholder?
i believe that beauty lies in the eye of the beholder as it is how i see a person and it can be very diff from how u see the very same person.
i think its in the eye of the beholder, but have you ever heard of the golden ratio?

Our attraction to another person's body increases if that body is symmetrical and in proportion. Likewise, if a face is in proportion, we are more likely to notice it and find it beautiful.

I agree that proportions are important but who the hell put Jessica simpson there? She isn't beautiful. she's ugly and she looks like a man.

I look at the bone structure. To me michelle Pfeiffer has the best bone structure.

How to improve my beauty of eye?

when i see my eye in closeup in mirror i could find black mark below. anyone plz provide tips to improve my beauty of eye.....How to improve my beauty of eye?
You are a female....correct? Anyways, i recommend you use eye liner to draw your eye out more effectively first, then use a lighter shade of powder to cover the bruise or black mark below your eyes. You have to gently tap it on to your skin so you're mark will fade naturally. However, i would first find out WHY there is a black mark...is it because you hit something? You should ask for recommendations from your doctor.

For me, the most attractive girl is one who doesn't

make any extra efforts to look more attractive than

she is. Even a girl with a bad case of acne can be

    beautiful!

But, if they wear lipstick and/or a lot of makeup, I'd

    have to wonder if it's really worthwhile to just say ';Hi';

to her. (Because it would imply to me that she has a

    lack of self esteem.)

I hope that answers your question.
Well, your talking physical features, so in my opinion, I guess Long hair, blue ( or some sort of light colored eyes), a little curvy, Tall, but really beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, All men, don't look for the same thing.

Not a fan of makeup, but light eye liner helps ^^

Please dont assume I'm shallow, this is just the physical features that I wouldn't mine, cuz I thought this is what you were asking, But I'll get thumbs down for this anyway heh

Is there any beauty to be found outside the eye of the beholder?

Ya know I love your questions Skycat, but this is Christmas....and I have had a beer since I got home from work, 15 min. ago...my mind is on hold.......you are crazy!!!Is there any beauty to be found outside the eye of the beholder?
For f**k's sake, I've had two glasses of wine and a glass of brandy. It's not the best time of year to be asking such mentally challenging questions is it!Is there any beauty to be found outside the eye of the beholder?
There is beauty in symmetry, it draws us from the random chaos of the world and focuses our attention to it. Animal brains have evolved around this basic concept, which caused plants to respond creating a beautiful and intricate world. It's safe to assume that insects can see the symmetrical beauty of a flower, as this is the only believable reason why flowers are beautiful.

The fact that we find beauty in symmetry says more about the layout of our brains than the inherent beauty of configurations of shapes.

Beauty, by definition requires a beholder, kind of like the proverbial falling tree that doesn't make a sound, as no ears are listening it only makes a vibration of air.
Yes of course, by some other beholder.
yes, in the eyes of other beholders
No.... It is impossible to find beauty outside the eye of the beholder because, while there are some things the majority find attractive; beauty is still very much dependent upon individual opinion. Even the most beautiful of things will have a sceptic and, in turn, for every perceivable ugliness, there is someone who sees beauty.
No, beauty is an internal reaction, not an empirical fact.
Yep. Inside the eye of the beholder.

    How do i know this?

Coz I'm in mid forties and have (luckily) a 20 something coming on to me. dilemma is ........why?
    Everything IS beautiful!

Not to everybody all at once. But everything is beautiful to somebody.

So, yeah, beauty can be found outside of those individual beholders who find certain things to be not beautiful.

But not outside the eyes of beholders who disagree with them.

    Think about it.
